Roles in GroupNews

Group Members

Group members have access to use all the features of GroupNews, except those that are limited to Authors, Administrators and Group Owners.

Every person who accepts an invitation to a group is a Group member.

Authors

Some Group members are designated as an author on one or more Group channels. Authors can:

  • Write and publish posts—stories, events, and deadlines—to publish in a channel for the Group to read.
  • Submit posts for publication in channels that have a publishing schedule.

Administrators

Group administrators help manage Group members and perform administrative tasks, including:

  • Creating and managing channels for the group
  • Inviting people to join the group the group as members, and deactivate memberships
  • Manage which members have administrator rights administrator rights
  • Manage which Group member can author content
  • Configure enterprise features like Single Sign On and Directory Sync

Group Owner

Each Group always has one owner. The Group owner has full administrator rights listed above Additionally, the owner is the only person that can do the following:

  • Manage the Group's subscription and billing.
  • Delete the Group

A Group owner can transfer ownership to another member of the group at any time.
