Transfer Group Ownership

Only the current Group owner can pass ownership to another member. If that isn’t you, contact the owner for assistance.

What Happens When You Transfer Ownership

  • You’ll be asked to enter your password to confirm.
  • The change is instant.
  • Your role automatically switches from Owner to Administrator.

How to Transfer Ownership (Owner Only)

  1. Sign in to GroupNews and open your Group settings.
  2. Scroll to the Group Owner section.
  3. Search for and select the member who should become the new owner.
  4. Enter your GroupNews password.
  5. Click Transfer Ownership to finalize.

If You’re Not the Owner

Only the owner can complete the transfer. If the owner has left the organization, you’ll need to contact them directly (see our Group ownership policy).

Tip: You can always create your own Group, which automatically makes you its owner.
